Wicked favorite Dee Roscioli is set to begin performances as Fruma Sarah on August 11 in the Great White Way revival of Fiddler on the Roof. She replaces Jessica Vosk in the revival, who is scheduled to play her final show on August 7. Directed by Bartlett Sher and starring Danny Burstein, the classic musical is playing at the Broadway Theatre through December 31.
Roscioli has played Elphaba in the Broadway, Chicago, San Francisco, and national touring productions of Wicked.
Based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof takes place in Anatevka, a village in Tsarist Russia during the eve of the revolution. Tevye (Burstein) is a poor milkman who cares for his five daughters. While he and the rest of the elders in the village are deeply routed in tradition, his daughters’ forward thinking clashes with Tevye’s principles and causes a rift in the family. The musical features a book by Joseph Stein and a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick that features the songs “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
The cast also includes Jessica Hecht, Jenny Rose Baker, Michael C. Bernardi, Adam Dannheisser, Hayley Feinstein, Mitch Greenberg, Adam Grupper, Adam Kantor, Karl Kenzler, Alix Korey, Jesse Kovarsky, Samantha Massell, Melanie Moore, George Psomas, Ben Rappaport, Nick Rehberger, Jeffrey Schecter, Alexandra Silber, Aaron Young and Jennifer Zetlan.
